As the core aluminum profile supplier for the project, the company provided customized aluminum profile solutions for the 89,000-square-meter provincial fitness center—a supporting facility for the Asian Games.

Project Background: Dual Challenges of Asian Games Supporting Landmark and Construction Difficulties

“Asian Games-Level” Positioning of an 89,000㎡ Livelihood Project

The provincial National Fitness Center in this cooperation, with a total construction area of 89,000 square meters, is a key Asian Games-supporting livelihood facility in the region. Integrating a gymnasium, swimming pool, and fitness venues, it can accommodate 12,000 people for sports activities at the same time. Inspired by the design of “spreading peace doves”, the building’s exterior features a curved curtain wall covering an area of over 32,000 square meters. It is not only a regional sports and cultural landmark but also needs to meet the “green, energy-saving, and durable” engineering standards for the Asian Games.

Three Major Construction Difficulties Restricting the Application of Traditional Aluminum Profiles

Located in Hainan, the project faces the test of profile weather resistance brought by the high-humidity coastal climate; meanwhile, the “spreading peace doves” design involves a large number of long-span inclined surfaces (with a maximum span of 18 meters) and irregularly sized curtain wall panels (with a maximum single-panel area of 12㎡), which places extremely high requirements on the structural stability and dimensional accuracy of the profiles; in addition, as a livelihood project, it also needs to take energy efficiency into account—the heat transfer coefficient of the curtain wall must comply with the national first-level energy efficiency standard (≤1.5 W/(㎡·K)), and traditional aluminum profile solutions are difficult to meet these multiple needs simultaneously.

Customized Breakthrough: XX Aluminum’s Full-Chain Solution from Materials to Services

Special R&D of Weather-Resistant Curtain Wall Profiles, Passing 200-Hour Salt Spray Test

Special R&D of Weather-Resistant Curtain Wall Profiles, Passing 200-Hour Salt Spray Test
In response to Hainan’s high-humidity coastal climate, XX Aluminum’s R&D team specially developed 6063-T6 weather-resistant curtain wall profiles, adopting a dual-surface process of “chromating treatment + fluorocarbon spraying”: first, chromating treatment is used to improve the surface adhesion of the profiles, followed by spraying two coats of fluorocarbon coating (dry film thickness ≥40μm). Tested by third-party testing institutions, the profiles achieve 200 hours of corrosion-free performance in salt spray tests, with their weather resistance level upgraded to the highest C5-M grade, which can resist the erosion of long-term high humidity and high salt environments in coastal areas.

Application of Thermal Break Bridge Structure, Reducing Energy Consumption by 30%

To achieve the energy-saving goal, the company customized thermal break bridge curtain wall profiles for the project, using PA66GF25 nylon thermal break strips (24mm in width). This reduces the heat transfer coefficient of the curtain wall from 2.2 W/(㎡·K) (of traditional profiles) to below 1.5 W/(㎡·K), a 30% reduction compared with the original plan. It can save about 120,000 kWh of air conditioning energy consumption annually, aligning with the project’s “Green Asian Games” construction concept.
